Smart Sindara and the Honest Exam
In the bustling city of Lagos, where the streets buzzed with danfo buses and hawkers calling out their wares, Smart Sindara lived with her family in a bright yellow house. Sindara was known as the cleverest girl in her class. She loved solving puzzles, reading stories, and inventing gadgets to make everyday life easier. Everyone called her "Smart Sindara" because she always had a smart way to solve any problem.
One sunny morning, Sindara was on her way to school. The air smelled of roasted plantains from the roadside sellers, and the streets were alive with the chatter of children heading to their classrooms. Today was exam day at Sunnyview Primary School, and the students were nervous.
Sindara’s friend, Sade, was unusually quiet. As they walked together, Sindara asked, “Sade, what’s wrong?”
Sade sighed. “It’s the maths exam, Sindara. I tried to study, but the numbers just didn’t make sense! I wish I could borrow your brain for the day.”
Sindara laughed. “Don’t worry, Sade. You’ve got this! Just do your best.”
But Sade didn’t look convinced. When they got to school, Sade whispered, “I have an idea. Let’s sit together, and maybe I can copy a little from your paper.”
Sindara’s eyes widened. “Sade, that’s not right! Cheating isn’t fair to you or anyone else.”
Sade shrugged. “But what if I fail?”
Before Sindara could respond, the bell rang. They hurried into the classroom and took their seats. The teacher, Mr. Okoro, passed out the exam papers and gave his usual warning: “Remember, honesty is the best policy. No looking at anyone else’s work!”
The room fell silent except for the sound of pencils scratching on paper. Sindara focused on her questions, her brain whirring like a calculator. But out of the corner of her eye, she noticed Sade glancing at her paper.
Sindara sighed. She didn’t want to embarrass her friend, but she knew she had to do something. That’s when she had an idea—one of her famous Smart Sindara ideas!
She wrote down the wrong answers on her draft sheet, pretending it was her real work. Then she quickly filled in the correct answers on her actual answer sheet. Sade copied the wrong answers without noticing.
When the exam was over, Sade rushed to Sindara. “Thank you, Sindara! I feel like I passed because of you.”
Sindara smiled but didn’t say a word. The next day, Mr. Okoro handed back the graded exams. Sindara got a perfect score, as always. But Sade gasped when she saw her paper.
“20 out of 100? How?” Sade wailed.
Sindara gently placed a hand on her friend’s shoulder. “Sade, I knew you were copying, so I tricked you. Cheating doesn’t help you learn. You’re much smarter than you think, but you have to try your best and ask for help when you’re stuck.”
Sade’s face turned red. “I’m sorry, Sindara. You’re right. I’ll never cheat again.” Two wrongs don’t make a right.
I agree and im sorry Sindara replied.
From that day on, Sade studied harder, and Sindara helped her after school. Together, they aced their exams the honest way, proving that true success comes from hard work and integrity.
And so, Smart Sindara taught her class not just about maths, but also about the value of honesty—a lesson that would stay with them forever.
