Smart Sindara and the Mystery of the Missing Library Books

It was a quiet Thursday morning at Sunnyview Primary School. Smart Sindara was enjoying her favorite class—reading hour in the library. She was curled up in a corner with a new book about famous inventors, while her twin brothers, Timi and Tami, flipped through picture books nearby.

Suddenly, the librarian, Mr. Okoro, cleared his throat loudly. “Class, I need your attention,” he said, looking serious. “Several books have gone missing from the library over the past week. If anyone knows where they are, please let me know.”

The students whispered among themselves. “Who would take library books?” Timi asked.

“I don’t know,” Sindara replied, her mind already racing with ideas. “But I’m going to find out.”

After class, Sindara gathered her team—Ada, Timi, and Tami. “We’re going to solve this mystery,” she declared. “We’ll need a plan.”

Step 1: Gather Clues

The group started in the library. Sindara examined the shelves where the missing books had been. “Most of the missing books are from the science and adventure sections,” she noted. “That’s interesting.”

Timi found a muddy footprint near one of the shelves. “Look at this!” he said, pointing.

“Good find, Timi!” Sindara said. She carefully sketched the footprint in her notebook.

Step 2: Interview Witnesses

The next day, the team questioned their classmates. “Did you notice anything strange in the library this week?” Ada asked.

“I saw someone sneaking out of the library with a big bag,” a boy named Bayo said. “But I didn’t see who it was.”

Sindara nodded thoughtfully. “That’s a big clue.”

Step 3: Set a Trap

Sindara decided to set a trap. “We’ll leave a new book in the science section and watch to see who takes it,” she explained. The team placed a brightly colored book on the shelf and hid behind the library door.

After a while, the door creaked open. A figure tiptoed in, reached for the book, and slipped it into a bag. Sindara jumped out. “Gotcha!”

To everyone’s surprise, it was Emmanuel, a quiet boy from their class.

Step 4: Solve the Mystery

“Why did you take the books, Emmanuel?” Sindara asked gently.

Emmanuel looked down, ashamed. “I’m sorry,” he mumbled. “I wanted to read them, but I was too scared to ask Mr. Okoro. I thought he’d say no.”

Sindara’s heart softened. “You didn’t have to take them. Mr. Okoro would have let you borrow them if you’d asked.”

Mr. Okoro, who had joined them, smiled kindly. “That’s right, Emmanuel. The library is for everyone.”

Step 5: Make a Plan

To help Emmanuel and other shy students, Sindara suggested starting a “Reading Club.” Mr. Okoro loved the idea. “Now everyone can enjoy the books together,” Sindara said.

That afternoon, the missing books were returned, and the library was back to normal. “Another mystery solved,” Timi said, giving Sindara a high five.

“And another adventure for the books,” Sindara replied, smiling.
