Smart Sindara Stops the Ram Fight

It was a hot afternoon in Lagos, and Smart Sindara was sitting under the big mango tree in her compound, reading a book about famous inventors. She loved learning how people used their minds to solve tough problems. As she flipped a page, loud bleating and shouting erupted from the street outside.

“Ram fight! Ram fight!” kids yelled as they dashed past the gate.

Sindara’s curiosity was piqued. She dropped her book and ran out to see what the commotion was about. At the corner of her street, a crowd had gathered. Two massive rams, each tied to ropes held by their owners, were pawing the ground, ready to charge at each other.

"Why are they doing this?" Sindara asked her friend Kunle, who was watching from the sidelines.

“It’s for the festival,” Kunle explained. “People bet on which ram will win.”

Sindara frowned. The rams looked scared and angry. “This isn’t right,” she said, shaking her head. “They’re making them fight for fun.”

“Careful, Sindara,” Kunle warned. “If you get involved, they might laugh at you. Or worse.”

Sindara watched as the two rams lowered their heads, preparing to clash. Then, an idea sparked in her mind. “I have to stop this,” she said firmly.

A Bold Plan

She stepped into the circle, her hands raised. “Wait!” she shouted. The crowd fell silent, surprised by the interruption.

“What are you doing, Sindara?” one of the owners barked. “Get out of the way!”

“Just give me a moment,” she said, her voice steady. “Do you really want to risk your prized rams getting injured? There’s a better way to decide the winner.”

The owners exchanged skeptical glances, but the crowd was curious. “What do you mean?” one of them asked.

“Instead of fighting, let’s see which ram is smarter,” Sindara suggested. “Let them face a challenge instead.”

The idea caught on like wildfire. “Alright,” one of the owners said. “But it better be good.”

The First Challenge

Sindara quickly grabbed a stick and drew a maze in the sandy ground. “Let’s see which ram can find its way through this maze first,” she announced. “You can guide them with your voice, but no pulling the ropes.”

The owners led their rams to the maze’s entrance. The crowd cheered as Sindara gave the signal to start. The rams hesitated at first, sniffing the ground. One of them turned left, while the other stubbornly stayed put.

“Come on, go this way!” shouted one owner, but his ram was more interested in the rope.

The second ram finally figured out the path and reached the exit. The crowd erupted in applause. “That’s one point for the black ram!” Sindara declared. But she wasn’t done yet.

A Sudden Twist

As Sindara prepared the next challenge, loud grunts echoed from the back of the crowd. To everyone’s shock, another massive ram, much larger than the first two, had broken free from its owner and charged straight into the circle.

The crowd scattered in panic as the rogue ram lowered its head, ready to attack the other two. The situation spiraled out of control.

Sindara’s heart raced, but her mind stayed sharp. “Everyone, move behind the stalls!” she yelled. Then she spotted a wheelbarrow nearby.

Thinking quickly, Sindara grabbed the wheelbarrow and positioned it between the rogue ram and the others. The ram charged at the barrier, hitting it with a loud clang. But instead of fighting back, it was confused by the unfamiliar object.

Seizing the opportunity, Sindara grabbed a bunch of leaves and waved them in front of the rogue ram. “Here, big guy! Over here!” she called, leading it away from the circle. The ram followed her until its owner caught up and secured it.

The Resolution

The crowd returned, clapping and cheering for Sindara’s bravery. “You saved them!” one of the owners said, shaking her hand.

Sindara smiled. “I didn’t just save the rams—I saved everyone’s festival from turning into chaos. Next time, let’s think of challenges that don’t hurt anyone.”

The crowd agreed, and Sindara walked home with a feeling of pride. She had proven once again that smart thinking could solve even the most chaotic problems.

What are the 3 things that Smart Sindara do to make the right decision?
